“The three artists in the ‘XYZt’ exhibition - Othmane Bengebara, Nassim Azarzar and Morran Ben Lahcen - may already have in common a language of abstraction that bypasses the laws of Euclidean space. Here, representation is left out of the equation. Othmane Bengebara's cloud motifs painted on simple mirrors suggest a discontinuous flow of time [...] Time: this is the common thread running through the works on display for us.
Not in the linear conception that the theory of relativity and quantum physics have been able to demonstrate, but in an elasticity and circularity that has no beginning and no end. Each in their own way, the artists poetise a sensitive perception of time, in which temporalities mix, memories cohabit with slices of instantaneity. A principle of distortion is at work in each of the works on display. The reflective surface chosen by Othmane Bengebara encourages the viewer to move around, transforming the work into an infinite variety of possibilities.”
